Wie schon auf verschiedenen Kommunikationskanälen angekündigt, stellen wir den 2017 implementierten ORCID-Claiming-Service in BASE in Kürze ein. Der Dienst hat eine wertvolle Rolle zur Verbreitung der Nutzung von ORCID gespielt, indem er Forschenden dabei half, Publikationen zu identifizieren, zu beanspruchen und ihren ORCID-Profilen hinzuzufügen – insbesondere in einer Zeit, als ORCID-Schnittstellen in Repositorien oder Forschungsinformationssystemen noch nicht weit verbreitet waren. Inzwischen hat sich die Situation deutlich verbessert.
Was bedeutet das für Forschende?
- Ihre ORCID iD wird selbstverständlich nicht gelöscht.
- In ORCID-Profilen gespeicherte Publikationslisten sind nicht davon betroffen.
- BASE entfernt lediglich die ORCID iD sowie das benutzerspezifische Verbindungstoken in BASE, die mit dem Claiming-Service verknüpft sind.
- Die über BASE bereitgestellte persönliche Publikationsliste steht nach Einstellung des Dienstes in BASE nicht mehr zur Verfügung.
BASE is discontinuing its ORCID-Claiming-Service on 5 October 2026
As previously announced via various communication channels, we will soon discontinue the ORCID-Claiming-Service in BASE, which was implemented in 2017. The service has played a valuable role in promoting the use of ORCID by helping researchers to identify and claim publications and add them to their ORCID profiles – particularly at a time when ORCID interfaces were not yet widely available in repositories or research information systems. This situation has improved significantly in recent years.
What does this mean for researchers?
- Of course, your ORCID iD will not be deleted.
- Publication lists stored in ORCID profiles will not be affected.
- BASE will simply remove the ORCID iD and the user-specific connection token in BASE that are linked to the Claiming-Service.
- The personal publication list provided via BASE will no longer be available once the service is discontinued in BASE.
